Facebook Adds Icon To Ads, Directs Users To About Facebook Advertising Page

In an attempt to make information about advertising on the social network more readily accessible, Facebook has begun placing a small icon depicting the megaphone symbol it uses to represent its ad products next to the word “sponsored” above its ad units.

Clicking on the megaphone icon takes users to the About Facebook Advertising page, which includes information on why Facebook allows ads, best practices for brand managers seeking to advertise, and how users can impact the types of ads they are served.

Sister blog Inside Facebook reported that the social network appears to be tracking which ad campaigns are running atop the group of ads when users click the megaphone icon, possibly so it can collect data on which ads users are most concerned about.
