MTV To Announce Video Music Awards Nominees Via Video On Instagram, Vine

MTV will reveal nominations for its upcoming Video Music Awards Wednesday via videos on Video on Instagram and Vine, Mashable reported.

The cable network will begin rolling out the videos at 8 a.m. ET Wednesday, adding one each hour, and Mashable reported that stop-motion animation creator Khoa Phan will create eight videos for the #RoadToTheVMAs campaign.

An MTV spokesperson told Mashable this year’s VMAs will have “the distinction as the first award show to ever announce nominations via these social media video platforms.”

This year’s VMA’s will be held Aug. 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., which MTV revealed via Instagram photos in March, Mashable reported.

MTV was also the first brand to reach 1 million Instagram followers, according to Mashable, and it now totals 1.37 million, as well as 117,000 followers on Twitter-owned Vine.
