Namco: Game Over On Facebook

Namco, maker of Pac-Man S and other games, announced that it is retiring its Facebook titles, sister site Inside Social Games reported Tuesday. The games will still be playable until March 19, at which point they’ll go offline. Inside Social Games noted that Namco’s Facebook games have not been popular, likely leading to their demise.

Inside Social Games reported that players of Namco’s Facebook games — Pac-Man S, Rally-X S, Dig Dug S, and Letter Labyrinth S — saw this message today:

According to AppData, Namco’s games combined account for 4,285 daily active users. To put that into perspective, the top game on Facebook — Candy Crush Saga — has 15.3 million DAUs. The second-most popular game, Diamond Dash, has 4.1 million.

Pac-Man S was easily Namco’s most popular game, especially early on. AppData shows that Pac-Man S hit more than 18,000 DAUs shortly after its June 2011 launch. None of Namco’s other games even hit 10,000 DAUs at their most popular.
