How Facebook Is Marking Name Day

AddNameDay650Will Facebook soon see an explosion of posts wishing its users a happy Name Day, similar to what already happens with birthdays? Reader Thodoris Konsoulas shared the screenshot above of the social network prompting him to add his Name Day so it can be celebrated, Facebook-style.

Name Day is not particularly well-known in the U.S., as it is more of a tradition in some European and Latin American countries, where days on the calendar correspond with specific names, often having to do with saints, depending on location and religion. Name Day is often celebrated in the same way that birthdays are.

Konsoulas, who shared the screenshot with AllFacebook, is from Greece.

Can prompts to buy Facebook Gifts for users on their Name Days be far behind?
