You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to play Space Race Blastoff, the first Facebook multiplayer online game from NASA, but it would certainly give you an advantage.
Space Race Blastoff tests players’ knowledge of the space program.
After choosing an avatar, players answer 10 multiple-choice questions about NASA history, technology, science, and pop culture.
Each correct answer is worth 100 points, and the player who answers first receives a 20-point bonus.
The winner advances to the bonus round to answer one additional question, and doing so correctly will earn that player a badge.
NASA said Space Race Blastoff was developed by Scott Hanger, Todd Powell, and Jamie Noguchi of its Internet services group in the office of communications. Associate administrator for communications David Weaver added:
Space Race Blastoff opens NASA’s history and research to a wide new audience of people accustomed to using social media. Space experts and novices will learn new things about how exploration continues to impact our world.
