The Wall Street Journal isn’t the only news organization to turn to interactive online technology to cover Facebook’s May 18 initial public offering, as Australia’s News.com.au put together an interactive graphic featuring the estimated worth of key players inside and outside of the social network before and after the IPO.
News.com.au is owned by News Corp. subsidiary News Ltd., and it introduced its list of “Facebook insiders” as follows:
There are veteran investors, whiz kids and their outmaneuvered former friends, hardened executives, and even rock-star artists, but they all have one thing in common — a very nice boost to the bank balance headed their way, courtesy of the social network.
The interactive graphic looks at the before-and-after estimated worth of (in alphabetical order):
- Marc Andreessen, Netscape founder and venture capitalist
- Bono, U2 lead singer and Elevation Partners founder
- James Breyer, Accel Partners principal
- David Choe, artist commissioned to paint murals in Facebook’s old and new headquarters
- Adam D’Angelo, Quora founder and former Facebook chief technology officer
- David Ebersman, chief financial officer, Facebook
- Chris Hughes, Facebook co-founder and majority stakeholder of The New Republic
- Instagram, photo-sharing application acquired by Facebook in April
