Next Up For Facebook: Android

Now that Facebook has given its Apple iOS application a serious speed boost, it’s time for the company to focus on Android devices. While Inside Facebook has the scoop on the latest update for Facebook’s Android app, Business Insider said employees are being forced to work on Android to brainstorm new ideas.

The latest update for Android includes the ability to create events — something that wasn’t available previously. It’s pretty clean and functional:

Now Android users can upload multiple photos at once, with functionality similar to the Facebook Camera iPhone app. Through messages, users can send photos and converse with emoticons.

Look for more updates in the future for the Facebook Android app. At the Facebook Ecosystem Crunchup, Vice President of Engineering Mike Schroepfer said the company plans to update the app once every four to six weeks.

According to Business Insider, Facebook employees have been “forced” to use Androids (instead of iPhones) so that they can get a better idea of what to improve.
