Optim.al Analyzes Facebook Pages Of MTV ‘Video Music Awards’ Nominees

Facebook audience data provider Optim.al analyzed the Facebook pages of the 15 total nominees for video of the year and male and female video of the year at the upcoming MTV “Video Music Awards.”

Here are some highlights of Optim.al’s findings, followed by two videos explaining how it analyzed the data:

  • The 15 nominees as a group total more than 353 million Facebook fans, but just 125 million unique fans, as the average fan likes 2.84 of the artists on the list.
  • Drake is the most commonly popular nominee, despite the fact that his page has fewer likes than those of Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Justin Bieber.
  • The top cities in terms of percentage of residents who like one of the nominees are: Paterson, N.J. (31.4 percent); Bronx, N.Y. (31.1 percent); and Compton, Calif. (31 percent).
  • 70 percent of the nominees’ 421,000 fans in the Netherlands are women, while just 19 percent of their 23,000 fans in Afghanistan are female.
