Facebook To Host Out For Undergrad Technology Conference This Weekend

OutForUndergrad650Facebook will host the Out for Undergrad Technology Conference at its campus in Menlo Park, Calif., this weekend (Oct. 19 and 20). The event is aimed at LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in technology.

The social network also hosted the second annual Out for Undergraduate Technology Conference in February.

Yahoo Senior Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition and Development Sandy Gould and AllThingsD Founder and Co-Executive Editor Kara Swisher will deliver keynote speeches during OUTC, and other highlights include:

  • Presenters from LGBT-friendly tech companies and conference sponsors including Yahoo, Google, Pinterest, Microsoft, Pandora, LinkedIn, and Box.
  • Breakout sessions.
  • An industry panel.

A Facebook spokesperson said of the OUTC event:

Students from more than 50 different schools come from all over the country for OUTC, and represent countries from five continents. While this is only the third conference for undergrad students, there are many instances of conference alumni who have been hired at companies such as Facebook, Opower, and Box. The conference is also a way for the sponsoring companies to work together to stress the importance of diversity within a company and show their support for the LGBT community in tech.
