Out for Undergraduate Technology Conference To Be Held At Facebook HQ Feb. 2 And 3

Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., will host the second annual meeting of the Out for Undergraduate Technology Conference Feb 2 and 3.

Out for Undergrad supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students who are interested in pursuing high tech careers, and the organization said nearly 200 students from 50 colleges and universities will meet with 27 top Silicon Valley tech firms on Facebook’s campus.

Presenting companies at the event will include Airbnb, Box, eBay, Electronic Arts, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Netflix, Palantir, Pandora, Square, Twitter, Uber, and Yahoo.

Partners from venture capital firms including Andreesen Horowitz, New Enterprise Associates, and Maveron will also be attending OUTC.

The program for OUTC includes career-focused events such as a résumé review and career fair, as well as sessions on LGBT issues in the workplace, how to network effectively, and how to perfect a pitch to investors.

Stanford Graduate School of Business student Michael Ruderman, founder and executive director of the conference, said:

The mission of the Out for Undergraduate Technology Conference goes beyond connecting undergraduates with positions at some of the world’s elite tech firms. We also want our students to bring their full authentic selves to work, wherever that may be. They shouldn’t check their sexuality at the door. Instead, we teach them how to best leverage their sexual and gender identities to succeed in the workplace.
