Facebook Global Head of Brand Design Paul Adams is leaving the social network to become head of product design at startup customer-interaction-tracking tool provider Intercom, where he will work out of the Dublin office, TechCrunch reported.
Adams told TechCrunch he had already been working out of Facebook’s offices in Dublin, having made the move for personal reasons, adding that he was not planning to leave the social network, but he had been advising Intercom and could not pass up the opportunity.
According to TechCrunch, Intercom counts Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone among its backers.
Adams discussed Intercom with TechCrunch, saying:
In the past … companies tried to minimize customer interaction. They didn’t want customers to talk back to them — that was overhead. Minimizing customer interaction is a very outdated model from a pre-social Web world. Intercom is very much about intimacy, very much about being personable.
