Pay-Per-View Concert Will Stream Live On Facebook

Are you a fan of Widespread Panic? Then get ready, because the band is performing two pay-per-view concerts, June 14 and 15, that will stream on Facebook direct from Austin’s famed venue, Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater.

The live Facebook concerts are courtesy of Stageside Productions, ACL Live’s production firm, and Milyoni, a leading Facebook commerce provider. The live concert video, streamed in high-definition, will be available from the band’s and ACL Live’s Facebook pages.

The concerts join a growing list of events shown live on Facebook, including sporting events from Major League Baseball, and political gatherings, like President Obama’s recent town hall.

“Facebook has quickly evolved from a social utility to a music and entertainment hub, reaching over 500 million users a month,” said John Corpus, founder and chief executive officer of Milyoni in a press release. “We are excited to power one of the first pay-per-view concerts of its kind on Facebook using Milyoni Social Theater – bringing the live concert experience of such a venerable band like Widespread Panic to a national audience.”

The performances both nights run from 7 pm to 11:30 pm central standard time. As part of the interactive portion of the show, fans will be able to submit questions via Facebook for a pre-concert question and answer sessionwith Widespread Panic’s singer and guitarist John Bell on June 15. And the video streams in high-definition, so for Facebook viewers it will be almost as good as being in Austin.

Viewers can purchase a single night for $5 or both nights for $10, with unlimited viewing through Sunday, June 19th at midnight. Fans can pay using Facebook Credits or PayPal.

Widespread Panic invokes a cult-like following, so Facebook is an ideal platform for fans who can’t make it to the Moody Theater to interact with each other and the band, and watch online.

Music lovers, would you watch a concert event live on Facebook?
