Facebook Testing New People Tab, Highlights Feature In IOS App

Highlights650Some Facebook iOS users who installed the social network’s most recent update, version 7.0, received access to a new feature, Highlights, under a new tab, People.

Josh Constine of TechCrunch offered details on the new People tab and Highlights feature, saying that the People tab appears where the Friend Requests tab had been located, and it contains three subtabs: Highlights, Everyone, and History.

Highlights brings up a list of recent life events experienced by friends, such as changed relationship statuses, new jobs, moves, and graduations. It seems to be a way to help users cut through the clutter in their News Feeds and see important happenings in their friends’ lives. The tab also includes friend requests and friends’ birthdays.

The Everyone tab lists users’ friends in alphabetical order.

And the History tab brings up a list of recent interactions with friends, in reverse chronological order.

Readers: Would you use the Highlights feature if it is rolled out to you?
