The people talking about this tally was missing from Facebook pages Wednesday, as pointed out by several readers, and while we initially assumed it was part of changes to page insights announced by the social network last month, it turned out to be a coding error.

Pages were missing the familiar PTAT count next to their like counts, and KRDS Social Media Manager Mahesh Waran pointed out that pages for places displayed the number of people that “were here” in its place.

A Facebook spokesperson told sister blog Inside Facebook:

There was a technical issue that caused PTAT not to show up for some pages, but that’s being fixed as we speak.
