Facebook Continues To Test New Photo Viewer Designs

Growing numbers of Facebook users are seeing a new layout for the display of photos within Facebook, where captions and comments appear to the right of the image, rather than below it.

Sister blog Inside Facebook reported on the new layout last week, saying that two versions had emerged:

  • One in which the tag photo and edit options appear all the way to the right, above the image and its caption and comments; and
  • One in which those two buttons appear over the image when the user hovers over it.

In both formats, the image appears as an overlay, allowing for maximum space and taking into account users’ browsers and screen sizes.
