Photos Of Unofficial HTC Facebook Phones Released

Images of what looks like HTC’s so-called Facebook phones have appeared in at least one other blog, despite the fact that the social network has publicly denied any tie-in with the phone company.

Facebook’s Vice President of Partnerships and Platform Marketing, Dan Rose, said at a company event last month that HTC’s two phones are “really just another example of a manufacturer who has taken our public APIs (application programing interfaces) and integrated them into their device in an interesting way. The rumors around their being something more to this HTC device are overblown.” He also denied that the HTC devices would have Facebook branding.

Yet the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer has released to PocketNow pictures of both touchscreen and keypad versions of mobile phones bearing Facebook icons on the home screen. HTC has a press conference scheduled for tomorrow and it’s possible that the devices in the images will be the topic of the presentation.

Take a look at the two images and decide for yourself whether these devices are Facebook phones. And if the HTC devices are something the social network considers unofficial or doesn’t approve of, do you think the company would take action?
