Outpoked: Facebook’s New Poke App Falls To No. 34 In App Store After Reaching No. 1

Even the use of the voice of Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg couldn’t stop the social network’s new Poke application for the iPhone from plummeting down the App Store charts after reaching the top spot in its first 24 hours of existence.

The Next Web reported that Appsfire Founder Ouriel Ohayon said in a tweet, “Boom. What happened to poke?,” and included a screen shot (below) of the new app listed at No. 34 in the app store rankings.

Ohayon told The Next Web:

Right now, iTunes is frozen (no apps can be added to the store during the Christmas holiday), so the ranking are less reliable than usual, but one thing is certain: Poke’s ranking is on a downward trend.

As for the voice behind Poke, TechCrunch reported that Zuckerberg, who worked on the small team that designed the app, recorded the “poke” snippet as a joke but was convinced to run it through audio filters and incorporate it into Poke.
