Facebook Testing LinkedIn-Like ‘Professional Skills’ Addition To ‘About’ Section

Facebook added a teaspoon of Twitter to its test kitchen late last month with its test launch of trending topics, featuring popular hashtags in real-time. Now the social network is adding a liter of LinkedIn to the mix, experimenting with the addition of a “professional skills” section of its “about” section for users.

Sociobits was the first to report on the addition of the professional skills section, saying that it appears under “work and education,” and added that LinkedIn has offered the feature since 2011.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the test to The Next Web, issuing this statement:

We are currently testing a new option where you can add your professional skills to the work and education section of your Timeline.

And The Next Web pointed out that when users professional skills to this section, links to related interests are also included, potentially adding to the ability of those users to be discovered via Facebook’s Graph Search.
