BookScout, the book-centric Facebook application from publisher Random House, announced the addition of seasonal book recommendations, as well as the launch of a mobile app.
“Summer Reads” kicks off the app’s seasonal recommendations slate, with featured titles including And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini; Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman; and Paperboy by Vince Vawter. Books from Random House and outside publishers will be included.
And Random House said the mobile app follows its recent optimization for tablets, as well as enhancement to BookScout’s social sharing features.
The publisher added that since the January launch of BookScout, more than 1.3 million shared stories have been created on Facebook, from more than 80,000 actions, and the apps has more than 6,000 monthly active users.
Random House Senior Vice President, Digital Marketplace Development Amanda Close said:
People love to talk about books at any time and in any place. With this in mind, we made BookScout accessible everywhere and on every device. Now that BookScout is fully mobile-accessible, our focus will turn to creating fun, fresh ways to share book recommendations and help connect readers. This includes new reading recommendations from our editors across all publishers, and additional social-sharing features within the app.
