Facebook users: Have you ever said to yourselves, “I would rather see photos of cats than read one more Facebook post about Obamacare? Well, you’re in luck: This is the premise behind Rather, a browser extension for Google Chrome.
Rather allows users to enter keywords representing subjects they do not wish to read about on Facebook and Twitter and replace them with images of topics they are interested in, which are filtered primarily via hashtags on Instagram, according to TechCrunch.
Users can click the undo button above the replacement images served by Rather to see the original posts, and posts can simply be hidden without being replaced. Rather can also be toggled on and off.
Rather was created by Chris Baker, Peter Marquis, and Yvonne Cheng, who also created a similar Chrome extension, Unbaby.me, which replaces baby photos in users’ Facebook News Feeds with “awesome stuff,” such as cats, dogs, cars, or any image-based RSS feeds.
Readers: Would you rather use Rather to avoid News Feed posts on certain topics?
