Facebook Introduces Real-Time Updates API For Developers

In an attempt to make it easier for developers to keep pace with changes to Facebook’s social graph that may affect their applications, the social network Friday added a real-time updates application-programming interface to its app dashboard.

Facebook said the real-time updates API will allow developers to subscribe to updates on objects that affect their apps and receive alerts when they are modified, adding in a post on its developer blog:

The new real-time updates API tab includes several settings for creating and managing your subscriptions. Now you can:

  • Create and edit real-time subscriptions.
  • Check your subscriptions.
  • Test the validity of your subscriptions.

To get started, check out the documentation for the real-time updates API.
