Facebook Reports Of Morgan Freeman’s Death Are Greatly Exaggerated

A Facebook page paying tribute to actor Morgan Freeman, R.I.P. Morgan Freeman, has drawn more than 867,000 likes (n just a few days, despite the fact that, happily, Freeman is alive and well.

According to TheWrap, this is the second “attempt on Freeman’s life” by pranksters, with a report spreading in late 2010 that the actor had died in his home.

Freeman was also forced earlier this year to deny reports that he planned to marry his step-granddaughter, E’Dena Hines, TheWrap reported.

The R.I.P. Morgan Freeman page, which was created Aug. 27, has a description that reads (unedited):

At about 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, our beloved actor Morgan Freeman passed away due to a artery rupture. Morgan was born on June 1, 1937. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.

In addition to more than 867,000 likes, the page’s total number of people talking about this is over 972,000.
