Facebook Backs Same-Sex Marriage In Supreme Court Filings

Facebook joined the growing list of companies expressing their support for same-sex marriage, announcing in a post on its LGBTQ@Facebook page that it will submit briefs on the topic to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The social network said it would post links to its filings on the LGBTQ@Facebook page when they become available, adding:

The briefs explain to the court how the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8 discriminate against employees in same-sex marriages and create undue burdens on companies and employees.

UPDATED: Facebook posted on the LGBTQ@Facebook page Wednesday morning:

This morning, Facebook joined 278 businesses, cities, and other employers and employer organizations in submitting an amicus brief in United States vs. Windsor, the U.S. Supreme Court case concerning the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
