The Billionaires Club Welcomes Sheryl Sandberg

Billion650The billionaires club welcomed a new member at the close of trading Tuesday, as Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg saw her net worth top the $1 billion mark when the social network’s stock closed at $58.51 per share, Bloomberg reported.

Sandberg holds some 12.3 million Facebook shares, which are worth about $750 million, according to Bloomberg, and she has sold more than $300 million worth of shares since Facebook went public in May 2012.

Not everyone was impressed by Sandberg’s milestone, however, as David Kirkpatrick, author of The Facebook Effect, told Bloomberg:

Did she do $1 billion worth of work? I don’t know. She had the good fortune to land in the right place where her talents could really be applauded.

She went to Google, moved on to go to Facebook, went to write a book, and she’ll know when to run for political office, and probably win that office.
