Sheryl Sandberg, Husband Dave Goldberg Join The Giving Pledge, To Donate At Least One-Half Of Their Fortunes

SherylSandberg650Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg and her husband, SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg, were among the new pledge signatories to The Giving Pledge, a group of billionaires who pledge to donate at least one-half of their fortunes to charitable causes.

The Giving Pledge was established four years ago by investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett and fellow charity-minded couple Bill and Melinda Gates, and it now boasts 127 signatories representing 12 countries and 26 U.S. states, as well as Washington, D.C.

The biographies for Goldberg and Sandberg on The Giving Pledge site read as follows:

Dave Goldberg is an accomplished entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and music-industry executive. He has run, and successfully grown, several online consumer businesses. Currently, Dave is CEO of SurveyMonkey, the world’s leading online survey platform. He also serves on the board of directors at Dashbox, Graham Holdings (formerly The Washington Post Co., and the nonprofit New Schools Venture Fund. He graduated from Harvard University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and government.

Sheryl Sandberg is COO at Facebook. Prior to Facebook, Sheryl was vice president of global online sales and operations at Google, chief of staff for the U.S. Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton, and an economist with the World Bank. Sheryl is the author of No. 1 best-seller Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, and founder of Lean In. Sheryl serves on the boards of Facebook, Lean In, Disney, Women for Women International, One, V-Day, and the Center for Global Development. She received a BA in economics from Harvard University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

And Buffett said in a release announcing the new pledge signatories:
