Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg Writes Foreword For New Edition Of ‘Getting To 50/50’

Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg is crafting quite the literary career for herself, following up the release of her book, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, by penning a new foreword for the new release of 2009 title Getting to 50/50: How Working Parents Can Have It All By Sharing It All, by Sharon Meers and Joanna Strober.

According to WebProNews, Meers is a former Goldman Sachs executive, while Strober is a private equity professional, and they are both married, with a total of five children.

WebProNews reported that Sandberg wrote that the 50-50 goal is not about being fair but rather about what’s best for the family, adding:

We are rarely at 50-50 at any given moment — perfect equality is hard to define, or sustain — but that remains the goal as the pendulum swings between us.

She continued that she and her husband, David Goldberg, aim for a 50-50 split in childcare and household duties (they have two children), adding that long hours at work and travel have led to “difficult decisions.”
