ShortStack said the smart URL is able to detect whether users are accessing the app via a PC or a mobile device, and it then delivers the appropriate content. The vendor added that those smart URLs can be spread via Facebook, websites, email newsletters, and other social platforms, and the process works for all of its custom apps, including photo and video contests.
Chief Executive Officer Jim Belosic said:
We’re excited to be able to support mobile for our current and potential users. Currently, custom mobile content is not a native feature of Facebook, so we thought that our users and those businesses looking to create custom Facebook apps could really benefit from this, especially with the statistics we’ve been seeing on how many people are using Facebook on their mobile device. We didn’t want custom apps to be left out of that conversation.
