Facebook is looking to extend its reach into Hollywood’s television industry with its newest hire, Ryan Seacrest Productions Executive Vice President of New Media Sibyl Goldman, who joined the social network as head of entertainment partnerships, based at its office in the Playa Vista area of Los Angeles.
Variety broke the news of Goldman’s hire, and a Facebook spokesperson confirmed the news, telling Variety:
The entertainment industry and Facebook are increasingly intertwined, and Sibyl is a welcome addition to the team focused on creating great experiences for people on Facebook to connect with everything from TV shows to talent.
According to Variety, Goldman will be responsible for expanding Facebook’s team that focuses on outreach efforts to studios, networks, and celebrities, and she will report to Director of Partnerships Nick Grudin, working in the same division as Vice President of Partnerships Dan Rose and VP of Media Partnerships and Global Operations Justin Osofsky.
Variety added that former Strategic Partnerships Lead for Music and Entertainment Charles Porch held a similar position to Goldman’s at Facebook before moving over to its Instagram photo- and video-sharing network.
Goldman had been at Ryan Seacrest Productions since July 2012, overseeing digital platforms and leading its original digital programming initiative. Prior to Ryan Seacrest Productions, she served as VP of entertainment at Yahoo.
Variety obtained a memo from Ryan Seacrest announcing Goldman’s departure, in which he wrote:
Given her talents, it isn’t so surprising that one of our social media partners recruited her for an important new and impressive gig.
