SouthKoreaFlag650Facebook may be eyeing South Korea as the site for its next data center, according to a report by Business Korea.

Sources told Business Korea that a Facebook official visited the country earlier this month, looking into cities such as Busan, and an official from the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning told Business Korea:

Facebook is visiting some key locations around Asia, including Korea, and it is looking for a suitable place to build its data center. The decision has not been made yet, but review is underway.

The MSIP official added that should the social network choose South Korea as the site of its next data center, it will have to register for a business certificate in the country, and it must adhere to its rules regarding private information and electronic commerce.
