‘Sports Illustrated’ Asks Facebook Fans To Vote On Year-End Awards

Several brands on Facebook are getting into the act of crowdsourcing. Count Sports Illustrated in that group. For the second year in a row, the magazine is turning to its Facebook fans to choose its year-end awards.

Sports Illustrated will allow its Facebook fans to vote for the most inspiring performer of 2012, the picture of the year, and the moment of the year.

Starting Nov. 22, voting will take place on Sports Illustrated‘s Facebook page. Fans will rank the top five in that week’s category, then share their choices via Facebook or Twitter. On Twitter and Instagram, SI will post updates and search for user comments with the hashtag #SIFansChoice.

The first category, which will launch Nov. 22, is most inspiring performer of the year. Picture of the year voting starts Nov. 29, and moment of the year voting starts Dec. 6. The moment of the year will appear on the cover of the Dec. 31 issue of SI, while the most inspiring performer and winning picture of the year will be featured inside the Dec. 17 and Dec. 24 issues, respectively.
