The 85th Annual Academy Awards, celebrating the top movies of the year, were a hot topic on Facebook Sunday night, but the awards ceremony was also popular on Facebook-owned photo-sharing site Instagram. Ben Affleck, who directed best picture-winning Argo, joined Instagram that day and quickly gained more than 5,000 followers.

The 85th Annual Academy Awards were handed out Sunday night, and film fans took to Facebook during the ceremony to the tune of 66.5 million Oscar-related interactions, with the term “Oscars” tallying three times as many mentions as during the 2012 event, and the nominees for best picture totaling 20 times more mentions than the previous year.

Although Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t have the tabloid-turning power of Kim Kardashian or Justin Bieber, Facebook was among Bing’s most-searched terms of the year.

Barely a month after The Social Network came out on DVD and Blu-ray, a documentary on how the movie was made posted on IMDB, downloadable for free in four parts totaling 93 minutes of footage.
