Just when you thought Facebook couldn’t possibly get sleazier than apps like Down, formerly known as Bang with Friends, we see another contender jumping into the casual sex game: Facebook itself! Yeah, time to up that user age to 18, parentals. Or something.
Bang with Friends
Facebook hookup application Bang with Friends is officially leaving the “with friends” part of its name to game developer Zynga following the settlement of a trademark-infringement lawsuit, extending the Down rebranding it introduced to its iOS app in August to the entire operation, and adding several new features.
Are you Down with Bang with Friends? The controversial “matchmaking” application, which is aimed at allowing users to discover if any of their Facebook friends are interested in becoming friends with benefits, returned to Apple’s App Store, but under a different name: Down.
Facebook matchmaking application Bang with Friends is under scrutiny again, but this time, it’s actually for the “with Friends” part, as Words with Friends developer Zynga filed suit against the developer of Bang with Friends in federal court in San Francisco.
Facebook users tapping the social network to get, well, really social will likely be heartened by news that Bang with Friends released applications for the iOS and Android platforms, while a more subtle Facebook app, YouShouldTotallyMeet, is aimed at bringing the matchmaking process to users’ networks of friends.
Investors are always looking for a bang for their bucks, but maybe not the kind that users of Facebook application Bang with Friends are pursuing. However, something about the hookup app drew investors’ attention, as Business Insider reported that the app is in the process of raising $1 million in a seed round, with sources saying that Tim Draper and Great Oaks Venture Capital are already in.
