Over the weekend RIM released the latest version of Facebook for Blackberry. So what’s new for this version of Facebook for Blackberry? Not much. Users can now opt to set the News Feed as their default landing page if they wish and there are also a few feed filters included by default. The primary upgrade is that device memory is more efficiently managed. I’m in the process of testing it now however neither the iPhone or Blackberry application have worked for me for the past few months.

Today the updated version of Facebook for Blackberry has gone live. I just downloaded the application by visiting mobile.blackberry.com from my Blackberry’s mobile browser. I previously wrote about the updated Facebook Blackberry application back in March and all of the cool new features that come with it. It looks pretty slick and I’m waiting to finish installing it so I can post a video review.

The people over at The Boy Genius Report got there hands on a nice piece of software: version 1.5 of the Facebook for Blackberry application. The service provides a much anticipated upgrade to the antiquated Facebook for Blackberry application. There are some amazing upgrades that I’m sure all Blackberry users will appreciate.

The new Facebook for BlackBerry, version 1.5, is scheduled for release in January 2009, according to crackberry.com. The latest version of the BlackBerry-specific mobile site hosts a few new features that you may find helpful.

New account creation lets you make a new account directly from your BlackBerry, and you can also access and manage your Facebook phone book. This includes the ability to view your friends’ phone numbers, publish your phone number, and request phone numbers. This is an important feature as it allows users to tie in phone numbers from Facebook straight into their BlackBerry contact lists.
