People all over Facebook are soaking themselves with ice water to bring awareness to ALS — including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. But how widespread has this been? Facebook released statistics Friday, showing that 15 million people across the social network have posted about, commented or liked a post related to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. People have also posted more than 1.2 million videos.
Facebook Weekly Highlights features photos posted to the social network by celebrities and athletes. This week’s edition featured the photo to the left, of singer-songwriter Bruno Mars; as well as the photo atop the post of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) after being awarded the Decoration for Distinguished Civilian Service by the U.S. Army.
NBC reality competition hit The Voice has been heard loud and clear since integrating with Facebook’s open graph prior to its 2012 season, with referral traffic from the social network than doubling and online votes per unique user climbing 40 percent compared with the show’s 2011 season.
