Orange, the European mobile service provider, recently launched a new campaign to have users tag their friends in a massive photo from the Glastonbury 2010 festival. The 1.3 giga-pixel photo includes 70,000 people in the crowd. So far 5,640 people have been tagged in the photo. The photo in itself is pretty impressive, and with only 5,200 people liking the page so far, it’s somewhat surprising that so many people have already been identified.

Facebook Connect Experiences Widespread Outages

If you’re used to interacting with websites through Facebook Connect, it appears as though you can’t access it as of a few minutes ago. Even the platform live status page has gone down completely as well. This is a big crash for Facebook which traditionally is able to maintain at least a portion of their sites functioning. While there are some sites that still are experiencing functionality, it appears that the major sites have all lost Facebook Connect functionality.

You open the cap and cherry scent wafts into your nostrils. Just as you start to pour the beverage into your mouth you stop and wonder to yourself, “What on earth is Facebook water supposed to taste like?” Perhaps the sweat of 450 million people? One Problem With Facebook's New Like Button: It Doesn't Work With Connect Sites

Kick-Ass Movie Instantly Turns Users Into Superhero With Facebook Connect

The marketing team for the soon to be released Kick-Ass movie has leveraged Facebook Connect to turn your Facebook photos into superhero photos based on characters within the film. You first choose props, camera angles, your name and your photo, and then you go to work placing, editing and rotating the props to make your character. Once complete, you can share it on Facebook and also enter a contest to be featured in an upcoming comic book.

CMT Launches Facebook Connect-Enabled Adventure Country Promotion

We seem to be getting more integrated Connect-powered marketing videos as of late with the latest promotion coming from CMT for their upcoming programming block “Adventure Country”. Developed by Campfire NYC, the promotion takes user profile data and integrates it into a 4 minute video clip honoring the individual for the brave acts they’ve committed. Yahoo! Mail Increases Integration With Facebook

Yahoo! continues to increase their level of integration with Facebook, with the latest implementation enabling users to update their Facebook status from Yahoo! Mail as well as view their contacts profile photos when they’re emailed. While these new features are only being rolled out to a few select markets initially, it will be pushed out more broadly over the coming weeks and months.

YouTube Increases Facebook Connect Functionality

While YouTube first implemented Facebook Connect on their site last June, the company has since increased the functionality, including the ability to find what YouTube videos your Facebook friends are sharing. According to the official YouTube blog, “knowing which videos your friends are sharing on social platforms is one of the best ways to discover those clips that you, in turn, just might feel compelled to pass along.”

VW Launches BlueMotion Facebook Connect Promotion

VW is rolling out a new technology for their cars called “BlueMotion” which apparently makes their cars more environmentally friendly through the reduction of carbon output. To promote the new vehicles, the company, with the help of 1MD, has rolled out a new Facebook Connect-enabled promotion. Like previous campaigns we’ve covered, this one integrates user data directly into a flash video.
