Steve Hatch, CEO of WPP Group-owned media agency MEC, joined Facebook as regional director for the U.K. and Ireland, filling a post that had been vacant for more than one year, MarketingWeek reported.
3Q EARNINGS CALL: How Is Facebook Responding To The Mobile Transition From An Advertising Standpoint?
Facebook said in its third-quarter earnings report Wednesday that its total advertising revenue for the period was $1.8 billion, up 66 percent when compared with the year-earlier quarter, and mobile accounted for 49 percent of that revenue. During the company’s earnings call Wednesday, Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg and Chief Financial Officer David Ebersman offered more specific details.
Facebook lost another key overseas executive, as EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) Director Christian Hernandez announced in a post on his Facebook page that he was leaving the social network to join early-stage venture-capital firm White Star Capital as a managing partner.
Facebook is targeting businesses in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa that have not yet advertised on the social network with ads directing them to the Facebook Start to Success Program, which offers free support for first-time advertisers, as well as a £25 ($39.15) credit toward advertising.
Facebook finally named its replacement for former Vice President and Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa Joanna Shields, who left the social network last October: Karmarama Executive Chairman Nicola Mendelsohn is on board as VP for the EMEA region.
