Target Wednesday announced the launch of its second Give with Target initiative, which allows Facebook users to vote, via an application on the retail giant’s Facebook page, on which schools get to divvy up $5 million in donations toward items such as electronics, school and office supplies, and storage and organization products.
We’ve heard from just about everyone else regarding how popular the 2012 Summer Olympic Games were on Facebook, but now it’s time for the social network to dish out its official statistics. The site noted that there were more than 116 million posts and comments related to the Games in London. And athletes collectively added 12.2 million likes to their pages between the opening and closing ceremonies.

Recently released statistics from Facebook and from Wildfire Interactive show just what people are posting about — everything from American gymnast Gabrielle Douglas to Procter & Gamble, an official Olympic sponsor.
Jamaica and German gymnast Marcel Nguyen (pictured) soared at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London last week in terms of Facebook likes, according to statistics from social media marketing software provider Wildfire Interactive.
