Facebook users who are suddenly being blitzed with ping sounds when they receive notifications while accessing the social network via desktops — including several of our readers and yours truly — have the option of muting those sounds.

The events function on Facebook continues to undergo tweaks, with the addition of the ability to export the event to users’ calendars, as well as the addition of a gear menu with additional options.
Facebook made the process of adding page tab applications easier for page administrators by including an “add app to page” option. It appears in the drop-down menu accessed via the gear icon on the pages of apps associated with tabs.
