Microsoft will team up with Facebook to host a hackathon at the social network’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., Jan. 17 and 18, aimed at integrating login with Facebook and other social tools into applications for Windows and Windows Phone.
Former Bebo Vice President of Engineering and current PhotoSugar CEO Darius Contractor joined FWD.us, the political advocacy group established by Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, as chief technology officer, TechCrunch reported.
Facebook recently held a hackathon at its headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., along with Google, Jawbone, Fitbit, Recon, and Pebble, with a focus on wearable technology, but Facebook Head of Mobile Products Erick Tseng told Engadget the social network has not quite figured out its approach yet.
Facebook’s annual Hacker Cup competition is kicking off a little earlier this year, as the social network announced on its Facebook Hacker Cup page that the online qualification round will be held Nov. 21 through 24.
Facebook announced at the end of September that posts, status updates, photo captions, check-ins, and comments were being added to Graph Search results, and Ashoat Tevosyan, an engineer on the social network’s search quality and ranking team, offered his insights on just how monumental of a task this was, and how it all began.
