Social gifting company Cleverbug and its CleverCards online greeting card service were the subject of the most recent edition of Facebook’s Success Stories, as the social network recognized Cleverbug’s gains in reach and conversions over the past 12 months.
Social gifting company and CleverCards creator Cleverbug celebrated its first birthday in style by announcing the closing of a $6 million funding round, led by Delta Partners, which brought total equity investment in the company to $8 million.
Everyone is on Facebook, truly. Kids complain about their grandparents commenting on their statuses. Colleagues rave about its potential for social business. Sure, your four-year-old nephew hasn’t signed up (yet), but his mother has certainly chronicled his existence from the first ultrasound, and thanks to Timeline, you know all about coworkers’ weekend activities, friends’ anniversaries, and parents’ favorite articles, in addition to the goings on of all of your favorite businesses and brands.
Cleverbug, which takes the Facebook birthday and greeting card experience to a tangible level, has announced that it will start offering e-cards over the social network. Users can design Facebook e-cards via the Cleverbug iOS app and send them to friends for free.
While there are several platforms that try to make the birthday experience more special on Facebook, iOS application Cleverbug feels that it can revolutionize the way birthday cards are given. By allowing users to pick from their friends’ Facebook photos and getting mutual friends into the fun, Cleverbug allows people to create engaging memories that go far beyond a simple “Happy birthday!” timeline post.
