Malala Yousafzai – who survived an Oct. 9, 2012, assassination attempt by the Taliban in Pakistan, where she was targeted for voicing her options about women’s rights and education — became the world’s youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner last Friday, and she shared her reaction on the Malala Fund Facebook page.
Facebook and its Parse cloud-application platform are set to invade Austin, Texas, for South By Southwest, complete with the Parse + Facebook ice cream truck, and the social network published a schedule of Facebook and Parse SXSW events and talks in a post on its developer blog.
The City of New York launched its second annual #LoveNYC Instagram and Twitter photo contest, this time expanding its reach to Facebook since the social network started using hashtags.
Residents can upload their photos showcasing their favorite aspects of the city’s five boroughs under the hashtag #LoveNYC for a chance to serve as an “Instagram Ambassador” for the city’s official Instagram account. The city will pick the top four photos from each borough to display in a digital exhibit at the New York Public Library in late September.
