Dr. Dre has teamed up with Zynga to promote his new music single in the company’s popular Mafia Wars game and to give out some virtual goods to Facebook gamers.

At 13th Street and Pier Ave., right on the pathway in front of the Hermosa Beach House in Hermosa Beach, CA, lies a pile of money, or so it seems. Upon closer inspection, it appears that these are not your average U.S. currency. These are stickers, $25,000 bill stickers from the Mafia Wars Mint Collection labeled “Mafia Wars Illegal Tender.”

With the Friday release of Mafia Wars Bangkok looming, we were pleased when Zynga extended a few early-access passes to preview the game. Mafia Wars, one of the most popular applications for Facebook at 25,000,000 MAU, has been a success for Zynga ever since it’s release. The mafia genre as a whole was one of the most profitable genres early on.

Couldn’t get enough of the FarmVille ad parody video that we posted last week? Now there’s a much better parody video (in my own opinion) by the person who created the FarmVille video: the Mafia Wars commercial. This one is pretty funny. While Mafia Wars is not as popular as FarmVille, there are over 23 million monthly active users, which is nothing to sneeze at. I personally never understood the appeal of the mafia games on Facebook, but they’ve proven to be extremely popular.
