Facebook: Atlas View Tags Can Now Track Custom Audiences, Partner Categories, Lookalike Audiences

Facebook acquired Atlas Solutions from Microsoft in February and extolled its virtues during its first-quarter earnings call earlier this month. Now, the social network told its largest advertisers that Atlas’ view tags can be used to track targeted ads using its custom audiences, partner categories, and lookalike audiences options, sister blog Inside Facebook reported.

Myriad reports have said that Facebook has a problem with teen users eschewing the site for social networks such as Tumblr. A few sources have reported Friday that Yahoo may be trying to purchase Tumblr, but Facebook could also be in these discussions, as well. According to AllThingsD, Yahoo is rumored to be willing to pay up to $1 billion to purchase Tumblr, but Forbes and GigaOM think that Facebook could swoop in and add the blogging site. However, it’s unlikely that Facebook will get the chance.

Facebook’s efforts to acquire satellite navigation startup Waze in a deal potentially valued at as high as $1 billion have hit a major roadblock, as Israeli daily newspaper Calcalist reported that Waze’s co-founders and CEO are balking at the shuttering of the company’s development center in Israel and the relocation of some of its employees to the social network’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif.

Microsoft discovered malware aimed at obtaining Facebook users’ login information and taking over their accounts, and the new malware strain, Trojan:JS/Febipos.A, has been delivered in the form of extensions for Google Chrome and add-ons for Firefox. The only good news is that it appears to have been discovered only in Brazil thus far.

Facebook used its Facebook Mobile DevCon 2013 event in New York Thursday to announce that 81 of the 100 top-grossing iOS applications, 70 of the 100 top-grossing Android apps, 82 of the 100 top-grossing iOS games, and 75 of the 100 top-grossing Android games are integrated with the social network, and to introduce three new mobile products: easier integration of Open Graph on mobile, an improved login with Facebook, and a new software-development kit for iOS.
