Facebook’s $1 billion deal to acquire Instagram was actually a $715 million deal to acquire Instagram, as the social network’s slumping stock price lowered the value of the major component of the deal for the photo-sharing application, Facebook revealed in its 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Add Facebook viral-marketing specialist Momentus Media to the list of companies partially acquired via hiring, or “acqu-hired,” by the social network, as the two companies announced the transaction today.
Tying deals and coupons to Facebook likes is nothing new, as Momentus Media and others have done so with apps introduced earlier this year. Now, LikeBids has joined the fray, with its very similar offering.
