As previously rumored, Facebook announced Monday morning that it has acquired Face.com, an Israeli-based facial recognition site. TechCrunch reports that the social network will likely use Face.com’s software to bolster mobile photo tagging.

Lord & Taylor Wants Your Big Apple Photos On Facebook

If you think your New York City-inspired photo is worthy of display in one of Lord & Taylor’s Fifth Avenue windows, see whether Vogue.com Creative Director Candy Pratts Price agrees with you by submitting it to a Facebook page called Candy Loves NYC.

Facebook users have until September 9 to submit photos in four categories, each of which will occupy a window during Fashion’s Night Out:

Favorite art moment
Favorite green space
Favorite place to meet up, and
Quintessential New York City photo.

New images will also be accepted live during Fashion’s Night Out.

Vogue.com’s Creative Director Price said:

I am thrilled to be partnering with Lord & Taylor for this exciting Fashion’s Night Out project. I am a true New Yorker and love the fact that Lord & Taylor is embracing the city. I can’t wait to see the places that are close to me in New York in the Fifth Avenue windows and also discover new places other New Yorkers love.
