5 Changes That Would Greatly Improve Facebook

Many of Facebook’s more than 1 billion monthly active users would agree — the site is great, but could use some improvement. As users complain about ads, a cluttered and confusing interface, and several other things, there are a few things that Facebook could implement to make the site much more palatable. Here are five innovations (some possible, some rather imaginative) that we think would improve Facebook.

TechWyse Releases Tool To See If Facebook Ads Pass 20 Percent Rule

Many Facebook marketers fear the site’s rule that photo advertisements must contain no more than 20 percent text, mainly because there’s not a great way to tell beforehand if ads violates the guideline. Internet marketing firm TechWyse developed an in-house checking tool, and it decided recently to open it up to the public. Now advertisers can simply upload images and see if they contain more than 20 percent text.

PropelAd Lets Facebook Page Admins Know Which Posts To Promote

While other Facebook page-management utilities track engagement and metrics in real-time, trying to figure out which posts to promote (and when) is still somewhat of an inexact science. Recently launched out of beta, PropelAd aims to take the guesswork out of promoting posts. The platform recommends to page administrators when posts should be promoted.

Facebook Wants To Make News Feed Ads Better, But Will Brands Comply?

Facebook has been aggressively rolling out new advertising vehicles over the past few months, but it appears as if the site is going to focus on what it’s got going now. In an earnings call Wednesday with investors, Facebook’s top officials said that the company is more set on making sure that the types of ads that are currently in place are the kinds that will be relevant for users and generate engagement. However, as some brands improperly use or overuse News Feed ads, users may be less likely to do much more than keep scrolling.

10 Questions Your Facebook Marketing Consultant Better Be Able to Answer

If you don’t work on cars, how do you know your mechanic isn’t ripping you off? And if he’s honest, he could still be inefficient — and that costs you money. It seems like everyone on Facebook is a self-proclaimed social media expert. There are no degrees or certifications, so we all operate without a license.

Scary, isn’t it?

And what if you’re selling Facebook marketing services yourself? How do you distinguish yourself from all of the other guys who claim to be amazing social gurus?

Facebook: Change To Page Admin Panel ‘Wasn’t Meant To Push Promotions’

Last month, Facebook page owners started to see a change in their main admin panel, as notifications were replaced with greater reach reporting on a post-by-post as well as a button to pay to promote the story to more users. Recently, this has rolled out to more admins. However, the switch has been unpopular among many page owners, who feel that Facebook is pushing ads upon them. A Facebook spokesperson talked with AllFacebook about these changes, saying that it’s honestly not a ploy to get more ad revenue.

Facebook Page Admins Can Promote Posts From Native App

Facebook is giving page administrators more options through its iOS and Android native applications. AllFacebook reader Matteo Gamba of Wimdu recently realized that he is able to promote posts through his iOS app. This feature is also available on Android. Previously, users could only pay to give posts more reach through the Pages Manager app.

How To Make Your Facebook Page Do Triple Duty For Your Business

If used correctly, your business’ Facebook page can pull the weight of three team members: customer-acquisition assistant, brand-building partner, and customer service representative. And even if your business’ page is managed by one staff member (or by you on your smartphone), with the right know-how, your Facebook page could still do three jobs for your business. Here’s how to turn your Facebook page into the ultimate multitasker:

Facebook Asks Page Admins To Promote Most Engaging Posts

Facebook has been trying new ways to get page administrators to pay to promote posts. Most recently, the social network tweaked the wording on the “promote” button on the admin page. Now, Facebook is placing a module on select News Feeds, asking page admins to promote recent posts that gained a lot of engagement. AllFacebook reader Matteo Gamba of Wimdu noticed that he was asked to advertise one of his page’s posts.

Facebook Tests New Phrasing For ‘Promote’ Button On Pages

Several Facebook page administrators have noticed that the promote button on posts in the admin panel may be a bit different. Facebook is apparently testing new verbiage to get page owners to pay to promote posts, such as, “Get More Reach,” “Boost Post,” and “Advertise Post.”

Facebook Expands Reach Reporting In Page Admin Panel

Facebook has been trying to be more accurate about organic and paid reach. Last month, the social network fixed a bug that made reported reach lower than reality. Now, the site has made it easier for page administrators to find out how well their posts have been doing in terms of organic and paid reach by putting these figures at the top of the page admin panel.
