Facebook Gives Questions A Subtle Facelift

Facebook Questions Icon

Facebook has apparently pushed out some much needed changes to the company’s questions product. Most significant is the addition of a new button which enables you to return back to the home area of questions, something that I’m not sure why it was missing for so long. Facebook has also redesigned the look of tags (not surprisingly more like Quora), and a cleaner overall look of the page. While the product is still in Beta, many have been wondering why there were so many bugs to start with.

The History Of The Facebook ID

Quora Logo

How does Facebook generate your ID when you join the site? While new users of the site aren’t aware of the use of numerical IDs, since the beginning Facebook’s profile system has been based on IDs to identify each user. While the site first began by auto-incrementing IDs, the model that the site has used for generating these IDs has changed over time. Questions IconFacebook has taken an interesting model to adding people to the Questions application: having users apply to the beta test. This morning we received an email with a link to this page which appears to be a user application for participating in the beta of Facebook Questions. What’s interesting is that Facebook expects the product to be as successful as Facebook Photos and Facebook Events, two of the most engaging applications on the site.
