Facebook’s Revamped News Feed Aspires To Be A Personalized Newspaper

In an effort to clean up the clutter, Facebook introduced a redesigned News Feed Thursday. Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, ironically enough, compared the company’s vision to that of a newspaper. If users just want to see stories about Wall Street, they can flip to the business section. On this new Facebook News Feed, if users just want to see posts from their friends, they can simply select that, and their news feeds will only be populated by their personal connections. Facebook feels that this redesign will make it easier for users to access and read what they want.

Facebook Tests New About Design For Users With Upgraded Timelines

Facebook has been releasing several small aesthetic changes this week to news feed, but it is also testing some changes on timeline — for the select few who have the newest version. The social network has revamped the “about,” section, giving users more options and allowing them to name shows and movies that they’d want to watch in the future.

We’ve heard from several readers this week about signs that Facebook might be testing yet another redesign of the home page and possibly the photo viewer.

Facebook routinely updates various features of the site on an ongoing basis, so any limited beta tests of new layouts or designs is simply business as usual for the social network.

Just as routinely, however, users of the site tend to get uppity about profile redesigns in particular, which makes the whole process of redsigning an interesting dance for Facebook.

So we’re curious to know, dear readers, whether you’re seeing any of the signs of a possible redesign on your home page or other features on the site — and do you even want to be seeing them in the first place?

Facebook has been continuously iterating on their new design with the latest version showing a new location for Facebook Chat. Over the past few weeks we have been receiving messages from users who have been part of Facebook’s ongoing user testing of the new homepage design, however this latest design has one significant change: Facebook Chat has been moved to the sidebar.

New Facebook Group Teaches Users How To Revert Back To Old Facebook Design

A new Facebook group has surged in popularity over the past few days as it claims to provide instructions on how to revert your Facebook to the old design. The group titled “I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO GET THE OLD FACEBOOK BACK!” gives step by step instructions on how do just that. While I haven’t tried out the process, it sounds logical.

Numerous users that have joined the group claim that it doesn’t work. Regardless of the tutorial’s accuracy, users are joining at a rapid pace. Just in the last hour I’ve counted over 300 new users. What has accounted for the group’s rapid growth? The primary growth is due to the group administrator’s decision to post step by step instructions for promoting the group prior to listing out the instructions for reverting back to the previous design.
