While Facebook is targeting a slice of television’s advertising pie with its test of video ads, the social network has also taken many steps to benefit TV networks and series, and premium cable network Starz took full advantage with its comprehensive Facebook campaign prior to the Aug. 10 series premiere of “The White Queen.”
It’s year in review time at Facebook, and Pope Francis donned the crown as the most-talked-about person or event globally, while Super Bowl XLVII took home the U.S. trophy, according to data released by the social network Monday.
Facebook Wednesday announced the rollout of embedded posts, which will allow users to add public posts from the social network elsewhere on the Web, such as on blogs and websites, with those posts including photos, videos, hashtags, and other content. Readers will also be able to like and share directly via embedded posts.
Within one hour of the official announcement of the birth of a son to Prince William and Duchess Kate, there were more than 1 million related mentions on Facebook, with the U.K. leading the pack (no surprise there) by country, and women 25 through 34 making up the top demographic.
