Facebook and several other tech companies in Silicon Valley provide shuttle buses to transport their employees, and according to The New York Times, if the 40 drivers from Facebook’s contractor, Loop Transportation, have their way, the social network’s buses will soon be driven by Teamsters.

Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have repeatedly displayed their commitment to charitable giving and education, and the power couple took another giant step Thursday with their announcement of a $120 million pledge to aid schools in low-income communities in the San Francisco Bay area.
Facebook described its efforts to help improve the San Francisco Bay area and Silicon Valley in response to a question at its annual meeting at the Sofitel San Francisco Bay in Redwood City, Calif.
Facebook came in at No. 9 on the 2013 list of the 25 highest-paying companies for software engineers from social jobs and career community Glassdoor, after placing second on Glassdoor’s 2012 list, which included only tech companies.
The San Francisco Bay area is home to Facebook, and it is also home to four professional sports teams that have enjoyed recent success or are on the upswing, so the social network examined which parts of the region were the strongest supporters of Major League Baseball’s Oakland A’s and San Francisco Giants, and the National Football League’s Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
